Work Readiness
Program (WRP) Our
WRP program offers Putnam County high school students who
have an IEP with vocational skills training as
part of their school curriculum. Students
are provided with practical, paid vocational experiences, which are geared
toward identifying and enhancing students’ individual strengths and talents.
Available work environments include food service, childcare assistance,
clerical support, porter maintenance, assembly work, shipping and receiving,
and community site placements. Students work closely with job coaches, who
will slowly fade out as the students feel more comfortable with their new
tasks. Training is also available in computer skills, work etiquette,
completing job applications, writing a resume, and interviewing skills. The
objective of the program is to help students use their work experiences to
make realistic, informed choices in planning for life after high school.
