Cyber School

Cyber School opened in 2006 as part of Educational Services' work programs with local high school students who have an IEP. Cyber School was made a possibility by grants from the Verizon Foundation, William T. Grant Foundation, and the Putnam County Youth Bureau and the New York State Office of Children and Family Services. All students in the Work Readiness Program and Work Initiative Network are scheduled for a rotation in Cyber School on a monthly basis. The school’s computer skills trainer works with each student’s abilities and is able to teach at a personalized pace for each learner. The class size is limited to four students at a time, so that individuality is achieved every day. The students gain experience with many computer programs, such as Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint. They also learn office, data entry and cash register skills. The WRP & WIN students conclude each rotation with a certificate of achievement.
